Access Statement for Kirkstone Foot
We would like to extend a warm welcome to everybody at Kirkstone
Foot. To ensure we can make your stay as comfortable as possible we would be grateful
if you can inform us of any special requirements when booking.
Introduction
We aim to provide
an excellent visitor experience and continually strive to improve our service.
We are a family run company specialising in self catering accommodation in the
beautiful village of Ambleside in the heart of the Lake District National Park.
Kirkstone Foot is located in the grounds of an old Country House Hotel and our
accommodation is located in The Manor House, the Coach House and the Garden House
that have all been converted and fully refurbished. As a business we believe that
we should, wherever possible, appreciate the abilities, whilst giving full consideration
to any disabilities of our customers, visitors and staff. Kirkstone Foot is located
in a quiet location just off Kirkstone Pass Road.
Local Facilities
Kirkstone Foot is
located a few minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside which is situated at the
top of Lake Windermere on the A591.
We are approximately
40 minutes from Junction 36 on the M6 motorway, 5 miles north of Windermere and
15 miles from Keswick.
Local buses run from
the centre of Ambleside and provides services to the National Park and surrounding
areas.
The nearest Railway
station is in Windermere, a short taxi or bus ride away.
Ambleside has a Post
office, Tourist information Centre, Health Centre, Barclays and National Westminster
Banks, CO-OP and Spar mini markets, two off licenses, a cinema and numerous shops.
There are a variety of restaurants in Ambleside to suit all tastes and budgets.
These include traditional pubs, Indian, Italian, Thai, and Bistros. There are
a number of café’s and a Gregg’s sandwich shop.
There is a telephone
box about 200 meters away on Kirktone Pass Road.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities
On arrival please
call at the office, which is the wooden building situated on the right hand side
as you enter the premises, where you will be welcomed and shown to your apartment.
Each apartment has is own dedicated parking location for one car with the exception
of the Garden House which can accommodate two cars per apartment. Extra parking
must be agreed prior to arrival and in most cases we can provide extra parking.
However, this cannot be guaranteed and is not available if all the accommodation
is occupied.
Extra parking is available in the village.
Arrivals must be before
5pm on all days except Sundays which is 4pm. Arrival after these times must be
requested prior to your arrival and arrangements can be made to collect your key,
complete with directions to your apartment and car parking location.
The Manor House and
Coach House are adjacent and opposite the office, the Garden House is off a minor
road bordering the grounds and is a short walk through the grounds on foot.
The grounds are a
combination of paved and pebbled ground and guests are advised to wear sensible
shoes and walk carefully, particularly in wet conditions.
Accommodation
The Manor House was
converted from an old Country House Hotel and the Coach House was converted from
one of the old out buildings in early 2000.
The Garden House was converted into 3 properties in xxxxx.
Consequently, due to the age of the buildings and the internal layout wheel chair
access is limited. We advise potential guests or visitors to advise us of any
special requirements prior to booking to ensure we advise on suitability for their
needs. We will endeavour to assist, wherever possible, to ensure maximum accessibility
for our guests and visitors.
